China still wanted as location for multinationals Despite rising costs, decreased demand and declining domestic growth, China is still seen as the location of choice for large multinational companies in Asia. A joint study by the American Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai and Booz & Company into 108 foreign-invested manufacturing companies operating in China found that unemployment and reduced consumer demand had resulted in a reduction in exports among 40% of companies. Despite this, the study claims to have found a resounding commitment from multinational manufacturers to remain in China and even expand their operations.
